The Mets have been (and will continue to for the next six games) operating a man down in the bullpen thanks to the sticky stuff suspension for Edwin Díaz, and injuries to Sean Reid-Foley and Drew Smith have not helped the situation. The team has managed to win every game since the suspension began, but it was inevitable that working with a depleted relief corps would come back to bite them before too long, and it did with a vengeance today. While the Amazins built up a big lead early on, the bats went quiet after that and the Astros were ultimately able to overcome the deficit and pull ahead in the eighth, leading to a 9-6 defeat for the Mets which snapped their four-game winning streak.
