Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs will become Syracuse Mets in 2019

The Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs will become the Triple-A Syracuse Mets starting in 2019, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday night during his State of the State address.

Mets COO Jeff Wilpon, GM Sandy Alderson, new manager Mickey Callaway, outfielder Brandon Nimmo and infielder T.J. Rivera were in attendance to represent the organization.

The Mets announced the purchase of the Syracuse affiliate this past October.

In 2015, the team's current Triple-A home, Cashman Field in Las Vegas, was ranked the worst ballpark in the Pacific Coast League by the staff at Baseball America.
