Travis d’Arnaud bid his final goodbye to the Mets.
Fans waited nearly a decade for d’Arnaud to even partly resemble the man he grew up idolizing. But he never became this era’s Mike Piazza and Friday the Mets ended his tenure with the team by officially releasing d’Arnaud less than a week after designating him for assignment following a very brief return from Tommy John surgery.
“It’s been an amazing journey to be a Met,” d’Arnaud captioned a photo of himself saluting the Citi Field crowd. “All the highs and the lows have made me into the person I am today.
