Travis d'Arnaud has shoulder examined by team doctor in New York

LOS ANGELES -- New York Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud received a platelet-rich-plasma injection in his ailing right shoulder during an examination on Monday afternoon in New York. The visit had been requested by team doctor David Altchek, assistant general manager John Ricco said.

D'Arnaud has been on the disabled list for two weeks with a right rotator-cuff strain. When he tried to resume throwing on Saturday at the team's complex in Port St. Lucie, he experienced renewed discomfort.

Ricco said the diagnosis remains the same -- a strained rotator cuff. D'Arnaud will rest for roughly a week, including refraining from hitting.
