With the current state of the Mets pitching, one thing they almost certainly require is length from the starters.
Tommy Milone on Sunday gave them 1 ¹/u2083 innings in his third Mets start. Given how he was torched out of the gate by the Angels, that probably was longer than he should have lasted.
The Angels, who hit four homers on the day, put five runs on the board, four coming on a C.J. Cron grand slam, before Milone recorded a single out. Cron’s shot was one of three homers, including a two-run blast by Mike Trout, that Milone surrendered to the Angels, who built a 9-0 lead.
