Tom Goodwin is working AFL to be a better coach

Goodwin took on the role so he could gain experience if he ever decides to pursue a managerial job, he told Daily News reporter Kristie Ackert.

"I don't know if I will, I am not sure it's what I want, but you never know when opportunities come up and your name is suddenly mentioned, so I want to be prepared for whatever is out there," Goodwin said. "But, I am also looking to learn about different aspects of the game so I can bring it back to the Mets."

The Mets have not announced their coaching staff for next season, though Terry Collins told the New York Post in October that he expects all of his coaches to be back in 2017.
