The Mets made moves to stabilize their pitching ahead of Monday’s doubleheader, but lost a key bat as well.
Third baseman Todd Frazier was placed on the 10-day disabled list for the second time in two months — after not needing the DL at all in the first seven years of his career — this time for a rib muscle pull that occurred during his at-bats Sunday and progressively got worse.
Frazier received a cortisone shot Monday morning and Ty Kelly was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill his spot.
