Tim Tebow needs surgery in another surreal Mets blow

Yet another injury has befallen the Mets — this one to their best chance at selling tickets in September.

Tim Tebow suffered a broken hamate bone in his right hand while swinging a bat last Thursday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Tebow will have surgery Tuesday and likely will miss the rest of the season.

Tebow, 30, was removed in the seventh inning of the Rumble Ponies’ win over the Trenton Thunder after injuring his hand on a swing. He was placed on the disabled list and visited a hand specialist in New York City on Monday.
