Tim Tebow collected his first hit of the spring after getting a surprise start for the depleted New York Mets on Monday.
Tebow was 0-for-8 before singling to left field off Miami Marlins reliever Kyle Lobstein in the fifth inning.
The announcement that Tebow would start on Monday was a surprise. On Friday, manager Terry Collins said there were no plans to bring back the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner after his second start.
