The Mets made a defensive miscue and the Royals singled them to death all night — stop me if you’ve heard this one before — as they lost, 4-3, on Opening Night in Kansas City on Sunday.
The Mets fought back late but couldn’t finish, and though it’s incredibly irritating to lose in this fashion to the Royals again, they’ll be right back at it on Tuesday.
Here are some observations from the loss…
David Wright looked slow on both sides of the ball
Wright didn’t enter Spring Training games until late-March in an effort to ease in due to his spinal stenosis, and he looked sluggish at the plate and on defense on Sunday night.
