This weekend will determine just how serious the Mets can be taken

Somehow, after two of the most bizarre days in recent memory, the Mets have found their way to one of the biggest series in the history of their new ballpark.

The Mets play host to the Nationals in a three-game series starting Friday night with just three games between them and the NL East front-runners.

“Where this club is right now with a lot of young players, you collectively have to get over the hump,” SNY analyst Keith Hernandez said. “The ’84 Mets, we couldn’t surpass the Cubs that year, we were young. So I do put a little more emphasis on this upcoming series at home with Washington.
