The Mets did everything they could to limit the damage Mike Trout could inflict all weekend.
Terry Collins issued intentional walks, Jacob deGrom busted him inside and the rest of the Mets’ staff refused to give the two-time Most Valuable Player anything to hit, holding him to just two singles through the first two games of the weekend.
But you can’t keep Trout down for long.
In the third and final game of his first trip to Citi Field, Trout reached base three times and drove in three runs on a homer and a double to help lead the Angels to a 12-5 win over the Mets.
