LOS ANGELES — His first two trips to Major League Baseball’s postseason were successful but brief, so much so that they barely registered on the industry radar screen.
Now, as if he didn’t have enough going for him as he approaches free agency, Yoenis Cespedes can place an NLDS victory on his résumé.
“I think, like they say, the third time’s the charm,” Cespedes said through an interpreter Thursday night, after the Mets’ 3-2 victory over the Dodgers in National League Division Series Game 5 at Dodger Stadium. “This time it works.”
Cespedes had a rough night in the clincher, going hitless with three strikeouts in four at-bats.
