For six straight seasons, the Rockies never broke the 80-win mark, the last four under manager Clint Hurdle.
Then, after an incredible stretch run at the end of the 2007 season, Colorado got to the World Series for the first time in franchise history.
And they never have been back.
It’s a fate the Mets are looking to avoid.
“In ’07 we had a magical run,” former Rockies general manager Dan O’Dowd said. “The chemistry was unbelievable and everything just clicked. We thought that would carry over to 2008.”
It didn’t.
“I knew very early in spring training that it wasn’t the same,” O’Dowd said.
