The Mets have another low-risk, potential high-reward option for their lineup.
In need of a right-handed bat, the team signed Jose Bautista to a one-year deal Tuesday, only two days after he was released by the Braves.
The Post was first to report the Mets’ interest in Bautista on Monday.
The 37-year-old Bautista was activated for Tuesday night’s game against the Marlins at Citi Field and placed in the starting lineup after arriving on an afternoon flight from Tampa. According to general manager Sandy Alderson, the veteran outfielder agreed to the deal around 2:40 p.m. and was on a flight to New York just more than an hour later.
