Re “Monumental: Washington Takes Historic Route to Franchise’s First Championship” (SportsThursday, Oct. 31):

Every year, a team wins the World Series and a city celebrates. I think some World Series are more memorable than others, and the 2019 Nats would fall into that category. Based on the history of Washington baseball and the team’s dramatic trajectory throughout this season, Wednesday night’s win is extra special.

I was 10 when the Mets won in 1969, and no championship in my city has, for me, surpassed what happened 50 years ago.
