The Mets (78-65) and the Blue Jays (68-76) begin a three-game series tonight in Toronto. For the Blue Jays, their season is essentially over, as they sit eight and a half games behind the final Wild Card spot, but the Mets find themselves currently tied for a playoff spot with the Braves, and just one and a half and two games back from the Diamondbacks and Padres, respectively.
The Mets’ nine-game win streak was snapped on Sunday when Phil Maton, who has been solid for the Mets since his joining the team in July, gave up a two- run double in the ninth inning of yesterday’s game.
