The Mets' situation at catcher is untenable

Mets 3B prospect David Thompson suffered a hairline fracture in his left hand after being hit by a pitch on Sunday while playing for Triple-A Las Vegas, according to Betsy Helfand of the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Thompson, who was placed on the disabled list on Monday, is likely facing a recovery of four-to-six weeks, Las Vegas manager Tony DeFrancesco said. The 24-year-old Thompson is hitting .258/.329/.379 with one HR and five doubles in 22 games this season for Las Vegas.

Matthew Cerrone (Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Contact): Team officials were very impressed with how Thompson rebounded after a terrible April last season.
