An important member of the Mets’ family will be back by Mother’s Day.
Jeurys Familia is expected to be activated off the 10-day injured list on Sunday, the first day the setup man is eligible to return after he was shut down on May 1 with a bone spur in his right shoulder.
“That’s why I’m here, if I’m not ready I’m not coming here today. I feel good,” Familia said before Saturday night’s game against the Marlins. “I’m excited to be back to do what I love to do.”
The former All-Star closer endured a rough first month back in Flushing after signing a three-year contract worth $30 million as a free agent to be the Mets’ setup man following a trade to Oakland at last year’s deadline.
