If you’ve been following the Mets at all this year, it would be hard to miss just how good the bullpen has been through the first few weeks of the season. It’s been discussed on the team’s broadcasts, broken down in Allison McCague’s excellent weekly pitcher performance meters, and garnered the attention of several other outlets.
Mets relievers have combined for a 2.95 ERA that ranks seventh in all of baseball, and their 3.04 FIP ranks second. There’s a long way to go, but the results have been encouraging.
The return of Edwin Díaz is obviously significant, both for what he does on the field himself and how much he lightens the load on the Mets’ other relievers.
