Chicago, Oct. 17 - The prodigal National League, which left New York three years ago to seek its fortune elsewhere, today voted to return to the Big City "with unanimous enthusiasm," it was announced this afternoon by league prexy Warren Giles. The acceptance of the "Payson ground" along with the "Cullinan group" of Houston, under the NL expansion program to 10 teams, is to become effective for the 1962 season.
Giles' announcement followed the morning session of NL moguls at the Sheraton Blackstone Hotel.
