The Mets just raised the bar for “best seats in the house” — installing two section of seats right on the field around home plate for Games 3, 4 and, hopefully, 5 of the World Series.
And catchers Travis d’Arnaud, of the Mets, and Salvador Perez, of the Royals, better watch out as the two sections of 30 VIP seats each could cut into their pursuit of foul pop-ups.
The special sections are also taking up space normally reserved for the on-deck circles, in order to get baseball bigwigs as close to the action as possible.
The on-field seats are so exclusive that they are not even being put up for sale — they are going only to Major League Baseball brass, Mets team officials and specially selected VIPs, according to Newsday.
