The Mets return to Citi Field one game back in the Wild Card race to face the Red Sox, a team that is in a very similar situation as the Mets in terms of playoff position. The Sox enter play four and a half games back of the Royals for the third Wild Card spot in the American League.
Although there were two frustrating losses in the middle of it, the Mets have had a good last ten or so days of baseball. Splitting a series with the Padres and taking two of three rom the Diamondbacks before sweeping the White Sox, the Mets did just enough to make their playoff hopes not seem totally in vain.
