The 2024 Mets season went better than most had expected or even dreamed. After a disappointing 2023 season and an offseason without any marquee additions, the Mets found themselves at rock bottom in May with any hope of salvaging their season slipping away. And yet they were able to fight and claw their way to a Wild Card slot. Then they fought through a tough three-game series to advance to the NLDS and beat the National League East-winning Phillies team to make it to the NLCS. And though their season ended there against the eventual World Series champion Dodgers, there was an air of hope that hadn’t been there just months earlier.
