The first game of the post-David Wright era ends with a flourish

After last night’s marathon, emotionally exhausting David Wright send off, today’s game was set to be a more perfunctory game between two poor teams at the end of the season.

Thor was an absolute beast today, throwing his first complete game shutout of his career, while striking out six, giving up five hits, and walking none. Only one batter in the game reached second base for the MarlinsMagneuris Sierra, who doubled in the eighth inning — and no one got to third. It was that kind of a game for Syndergaard.
