Murphy’s Law hasn’t completely descended upon Citi Field just yet.
Following his shortest outing in nearly two months, Jacob deGrom threw a right hand at the water cooler in the Mets’ dugout, taking out his frustrations after a subpar outing. And — surprise, surprise — the hand seemed to be fine afterward. No bandages, no MRI exams scheduled.
“I didn’t have the game I wanted,” deGrom said after allowing seven hits and four runs — three earned — in 5 ¹/u2083 innings, striking out as many as he walked (two) as the Mets were swept out of Citi Field by the Cubs, 6-1, Thursday afternoon.
