Welcome to the ‘2024 Alternate Mets,’ a feature where we look at what could have been if the Mets had signed/acquired rumored players from the past offseason.
Last year’s Winter Meetings were mighty quiet for the Mets, as evidenced by the first bit of news being that the Mets had interest in Michael A. Taylor. That’s no disrespect to Taylor, who has had a perfectly cromulent career as a defense first outfielder, primarily with the Nationals, but after the Mets made big free agency splashes in ahead of the 2023 season, the tone was clearly quite different last year in Nashville.
