Terry Collins needs a new lieutenant.
Mets bench coach Bob Geren is leaving to take the same job with the Dodgers, according to FOX Sports.
Geren was a candidate for the Dodgers’ manager job, which went to Dave Roberts. Now he will work under Roberts, who also added managerial candidate Gabe Kapler to his staff Wednesday.
Geren, who was manager of the A’s for five seasons ending in 2011, had been the Mets’ bench coach for the past four of Collins’ five years as manager, helping the team reach the World Series this past season.
