Terry Collins has said since he signed a new two-year contract last November he could retire following the 2017 season, and the Mets manager maintained that position on Thursday.
“I will see how I feel at the end of next year,” Collins said. “How we do, how I feel, my health, everything else.”
The 67-year-old Collins said this season, which ended for the Mets with a loss to the Giants in the wild-card round last week, was mentally challenging due to the number of injuries the team suffered. The Mets needed a 27-13 finish over the final six weeks just to reach the playoffs.
