NEW YORK -- Outfielder Alejandro De Aza was spared when the New York Mets needed to open a roster spot for Jose Reyes on Tuesday. Instead, the Mets sent infielder Matt Reynolds to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Reynolds has hit .233 with one homer and six RBIs in 43 at-bats during a pair of recent cameos in the majors.
He primarily served as a pinch hitter, although he also saw action at shortstop, second base, third base and even got his first career action at any level in left field with a June 22 start.
