Terry Collins said this past weekend that - in addition to Seth Lugo, Robert Gsellman and Zack Wheeler - relievers Ben Rowen, Rafael Montero, Josh Smoker, Adam Wilk and RHP prospect Paul Sewald have quietly emerged in camp as possible candidates to make his Opening Day roster.
According to Collins, because other pitchers they expected to do well have underperformed - I assume he meant Josh Edgin and Tom Gorzelanny - he's now paying extra attention to Smoker, Rowen, Montero, Wilk and Sewald.
The Mets typically carry seven, sometimes eight relievers to start the season.
