WASHINGTON — Terry Collins employed a mea culpa Wednesday, when none was probably necessary.
The Mets manager took the blame for leaving Bobby Parnell in the game in the eighth inning as the Nationals rallied for three runs.
“That’s all on me — that’s not on Bobby,” Collins said after the Mets’ 4-3 loss at Nationals Park. “He had been throwing the ball great and the ball in the dirt, it was a big mistake, and those two guys got in scoring position, but that’s on me.”
Parnell, who entered with a 0.73 ERA in 13 appearances, threw a wild pitch that allowed the runners to advance to second and third with two outs.
