The Mets walked off the Reds 6-4 in the tenth inning to win their eighth straight and stay even with the Braves in NL Wild Card race. The Mets got out to two-run leads on two different occasions, which were each erased by a Reds two-run homer off Sean Manaea. The Mets’ bullpen was spotless, setting the stage for walk off hero Mark Vientos.
The Mets’ first two-run lead came in the first inning against Reds opener Fernando Cruz. Francisco Lindor led off the inning with a single and then with one out Mark Vientos launched his 23rd home run of the season to give the Mets an early 2-0 lead.
