Steven Matz is back and will pitch for the Mets this weekend, but the team is not saying when. The highly-touted left-handed prospect, who had missed nearly two months on the disabled list with a partially torn lat muscle, is expected to pitch this weekend, likely on Sunday, in Miami, according to sources.
"Sometime soon," was all Mets manager Terry Collins would say when asked when Matz would slot into the rotation. Matz also said he was not sure when he would pitch.
The Long Island native is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday and Friday, which would be in line for a start on Sunday.
