Steven Matz bounced back from a rough outing his last time out by throwing seven scoreless innings in Mets Triple-A affiliate Las Vegas'
5-1 win over Salt Lake on Wednesday.
Matz, who has had his pitches and innings closely monitored as he approaches a probable summer call-up to the majors, struck out five and gave up four hits and a walk.
The Long Island native threw 53 of his 87 pitches for strikes, got seven groundouts and picked a runner off first base.
In his last start on June 11, the Mets' top pitching prospect allowed four runs in four innings, his shortest outing of the season.
