Steven Matz said Tuesday the tightness behind his right shoulder blade is “feeling better,” and he is ready to pitch for his spot on the Mets playoff roster. That is essentially what will happen Thursday when the Mets’ rookie lefthander pitches in a 10:30 a.m. Instructional League game at the team’s spring training complex.
Terry Collins was non-committal Wednesday when asked if the injury-prone Matz would be his Game 4 starter in the National League Division Series against the Dodgers if he pitched well Thursday. The Mets manager admitted that they are waiting to see how he comes through the game before they decide if they will even put him on the final playoff roster.
