Steven Matz took a no-hitter into the eighth inning as the Mets went on to beat the Padres 5-1 Sunday afternoon at Citi Field.
Matz allowed a single to Alexei Ramirez with one out in the eighth to break up the bid. It was the 105th and final pitch Matz would throw; Terry Collins came out with the quick hook. He struck out eight Padres and walked two over 7.1 innings.
Addison Reed allowed another single in the eighth but was able to get out of it.
