Fireworks turned to flames for one of the Mets’ minor-league affiliates.
The High-A St. Lucie Mets saw their postgame Fourth of July fireworks display at First Data Field go array in Florida following a 4-1 victory over the Daytona Tortugas on Thursday night. A fire broke amongst the trees beyond the outfield wall, with smoke plenty of smoking rising to the sky. According to MetsMerizedonline, everyone is OK.
This isn’t the first time this has happened to the St. Lucie Mets. A similar wildfire incident occurred to the team’s fireworks night in April 2017, burning four acres and not threatening any buildings.
