News broke Monday evening that the bidding for the New York Mets is down to just four ownerships groups. Steve Cohen is the favorite, but a mystery bidder was still involved. There’s at least one bidder who has worked hard to keep things silent. Sources tell ESNY that C.K. McWhorter’s bid is real, and he’s working to make it even stronger.
“McWhorter’s bid is as real as the need for African American Professional sports ownership,” one source said.
The source went on to add that McWhorter has been in conversations with a sports investment bank that specializes in ownership transactions.
