SNY announcers Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez weighed in on the Jason Vargas controversy during Wednesday’s game against the Phillies, but did it carefully.
Cohen said he believes the left-hander should have apologized after he had to be restrained from going after Newsday reporter Tim Healey in the aftermath of the Mets’ loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Sunday.
“Now, you know Jason has the right to do or not do whatever he wants to do. He’s 36 years old, he’s a husband and father,” Cohen said during the telecast, according to The Athletic’s Tim Britton.
