Snake-bitten Mets take hit: Murphy on DL, lose to D-backs

DIAMONDBACKS 7, METS 2

PHOENIX -- The Mets managed to roll on after season-ending injuries to starter Zack Wheeler and Josh Edgin, their lefty specialist, in spring training. They managed to keep it together through injuries to their captain David Wright and catcher Travis d'Arnaud.

But Friday the wheels might have finally come off. With Daniel Murphy, their hottest bat, the latest to go down, the Mets fell apart in a 7-2 loss to the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

Murphy was put on the disabled list Friday morning with a strained left quad, injured in the third inning Thursday night, and the offense seemed to be put on the shelf with him.
