Sinking Mets fall below .500 with loss to Padres, presented by W.B. Mason

Ryan Shcimpf hit two of the Padres' four homers off Logan Verrett, who allowed five runs in the first inning as the Mets dropped their fourth straight game, 8-6, on Friday night at Citi Field.

  • Verrett was torched for eight runs - all on four homers - while allowing six hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings. Over his last two starts, he has surrendered 14 runs and 13 hits in 6 1/3 innings.
  • New York rallied back with six unanswered runs, three in the sixth on Matt Reynolds' RBI double, Ty Kelly's RBI single and an RBI groundout by Wilmer Flores.
