In a rematch of Friday night’s 8-4 Mets’ loss, Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea met again at American Family Field for Game 2 of the Wild Card series. And, much like Friday, the Mets came up short, losing the game 5-3.
Francisco Lindor led off the game with a six pitch walk, but was erased on a José Iglesias fielder’s choice. Mark Vientos then hit a swinging bunt that Willy Adames couldn’t handle for an infield single, putting two on with one out.
Brandon Nimmo pulled a single in between first and second to score Iglesias and push Vientos to third, putting the Mets on the board and putting immediate pressure on Montas.
