The Mets and Cubs engaged in another pitchers’ duel Wednesday evening at Citi Field—this time with Jose Butto matching up with Shota Imanaga. Butto did allow the first two baserunners to reach on a double and a walk, but quickly settled down after that. Imanaga looked strong from the start, keeping Mets hitters off balance for most of the game.
The hearts of Mets’ fans might have seized up a bit as the top of the third kicked off and Joey Wendle came out to take over at shortstop for Francisco Lindor, though later news would reveal that Lindor left the game due to illness and flu-like symptoms.
