The Mets have agreed to sign free agent infielder Nick Madrigal, pending a physical, according to Joel Sherman. Anthony DiComo adds that Madrigal and the Mets agreed to a split contract, which would offer Madrigal different salaries were he to play in the majors or minors.

Madrigal was drafted by the Chicago White Sox with the fourth overall pick in 2018, and he made his major league debut on the South Side on July 31s 2020. Madrigal has spent all five of his major league career in Chicago, first with the Sox in 2020 and 21 and then with the Cubs from 2022 through 2024.
