Things are going from bad to worse in Flushing.
The Mets announced that reliever Seth Lugo will go on the 10-day injured list with shoulder tendinitis Monday afternoon. Hector Santiago has been called up from Triple-A Syracuse in his place.
Lugo pitched an inning Sunday, giving up a run to the Marlins in what became a 3-0 loss for the Mets, the latest in a disastrous stretch for the ballclub. The right-hander has thrown 26 innings this season with a 3.12 ERA.
As for Santiago, he has yet to see major league action this year, having last pitched with the White Sox in 2018.
