Right fielder Matt Kemp is hitting .299 with eight homers and 22 RBIs in 27 games. Kemp did not reach that long-ball total until July 11 last season. Acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in December 2014, Kemp is owed $21.5 million a season through 2019. First baseman Wil Myers also is off to a solid start. He is hitting .304 with five homers and 15 RBIs in 28 games.
First-year Padres manager Andy Green appeared in four games for the Mets in 2009. It was his final major league action.
