With the February signing of soon-to-be franchise home run champion Pete Alonso, the Mets were set at virtually every position across the diamond.
The aforementioned Alonso is an ironman, never playing less than 150 games in any (non-COVID-19 shortened) season at first base. Francisco Lindor is similarly built, playing 161, 160 and 152 games the last three seasons. Mark Vientos is much less of a sure thing than Alonso and Lindor, but his performance last year — .266/.322/.516 (133 wRC+) — ensures that he will get every opportunity to prove he is here to stay.
The outfield is similarly set.
