There will be no Mookie Summit on Sunday. Perhaps ever.
What was supposed to be a light-hearted meeting between Boston Red Sox centerfielder Mookie Betts and Mets legend Mookie Wilson collapsed this weekend because the players couldn’t match up their respective schedules.
The two were supposed to meet on Saturday at Betts’ request to bask in the joy of being named Mookie, but the encounter never happened.
Red Sox director of media relations Kevin Gregg said that Wilson arrived late for the scheduled meeting on Saturday and that he was waiting on him to show up on Sunday.
