There's a new Reyes to watch in the Mets' organization.
Pitcher Scarlyn Reyes struck out 11 in 8 2/3 innings in Single-A affiliate Savannah's 3-2 win over Asheville on Thursday. Both were career highs.
Reyes (7-4, 3.05 ERA) didn't walk a batter and threw 75 of his season-high 100 pitches for strikes. He allowed three hits and two unearned runs. He gave up singles in the third, seventh and ninth innings. Both Asheville runs scored because off fielding errors.
The 25-year-old righthander has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 10 of his 11 starts this season, two earned runs or fewer in eight starts and one or fewer earned runs in four starts.
